PART B. READING COMPREHENSION

Read the following passage and mark the letter A, B, C or D on your answer sheet to indicate the correct answer to each of the questions.

The generation gap is a common issue that occurs in many families around the world. It is simply understood as the difference in beliefs, opinions, and values between younger people and their parents or grandparents. This gap often leads to misunderstandings and conflicts at home.

One major reason for this gap is the rapid development of technology. Today's teenagers grow up in a digital world with smartphones, social media, and the Internet. They use these modern tools to study, communicate, and entertain themselves every day. In contrast, many parents and grandparents did not have access to modern devices during their childhood, so they may find it difficult to understand why their children spend so much time on screens.

Another difference is related to lifestyles and career choices. While older generations often value job stability and traditional family rules, young people tend to be more independent, open-minded, and creative. They want to choose their own career paths, dress in their own styles, and make personal decisions.

To bridge the generation gap, mutual respect and open communication are very important. Parents should listen patiently to their children's ideas instead of imposing their views. At the same time, children need to show respect for their parents' life experiences and care. When family members spend quality time together and talk openly, they can easily build strong and happy relationships.

Question 16. What is the main idea of the passage?

A. The history of modern technology and smartphones

B. Reasons for the generation gap and ways to solve it

Question 17. According to paragraph 2, what do today's teenagers use modern technology for?

C. To control their parents' daily schedules

D. To replace personal doctor appointments

Question 18. The word "stability" in paragraph 3 is closest in meaning to ______.

A. danger

B. steadiness

C. change

D. difficulty

Question 19. The word "they" in paragraph 4 refers to ______.

A. family members

B. parents' views

C. life experiences

D. career choices

Question 20. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
