I. STRATEGY & TIPS (Mẹo làm bài cho Band 5.0)
Để làm tốt dạng bài True / False / Not Given, học viên cần nắm rõ định nghĩa:
- TRUE: Thông tin trong câu hỏi hoàn toàn khớp và có cùng ý nghĩa với thông tin trong bài đọc.
- FALSE: Thông tin trong câu hỏi mâu thuẫn hoặc trái ngược hoàn toàn với bài đọc.
- NOT GIVEN: Bài đọc không nhắc tới thông tin này, hoặc thông tin chưa đủ để khẳng định đúng hay sai.
Quy trình 3 bước làm bài:
1. Bước 1 (Keywords): Đọc câu hỏi trước, gạch chân các từ khóa chính (tên riêng, danh từ chỉ sự vật, thời gian, động từ hành động).
2. Bước 2 (Scan): Dò tìm vị trí câu chứa từ khóa hoặc từ đồng nghĩa trong bài đọc.
3. Bước 3 (Compare & Decide): Đọc kỹ câu văn trong bài để so sánh ý nghĩa, chú ý các từ chỉ số lượng (all, some, sixty), mức độ (only, regularly) hoặc phủ định (not, rather than).

III. READING PASSAGE
A covered bicycle parking area has opened beside Eastford station. Before the project began, passengers left bicycles along a narrow pavement, making it difficult for other people to walk past. The new area contains sixty spaces and is available throughout the day. Riders bring their own locks; the station does not lend them. Signs explain how to park without blocking the entrance.
During the first month, staff counted parked bicycles at three different times each weekday. The busiest period was the early morning, when many commuters arrived for trains. Evening use was lower, although some bicycles remained overnight. Staff used these records to decide when the area needed cleaning rather than asking every rider to complete a survey.
The covered area protects bicycles from rain, but it is not a repair service. Anyone whose bicycle stops working must arrange help elsewhere. The station plans to review the number of spaces after six months. An extension will be considered only if the existing spaces are regularly full. No decision about a larger area has yet been made.

Lưu ý lỗi thường gặp đối với học viên Band 5.0:
- Nhầm FALSE và NOT GIVEN ở Câu 3: Học viên thường tự suy luận "nhà ga công cộng mở cho mọi người thì chắc là miễn phí". Cần nhớ nguyên tắc vàng của IELTS Reading: chỉ căn cứ vào thông tin có sẵn trên trang giấy.
- Bẫy phủ định ngầm ở Câu 4 (rather than): Cấu trúc A rather than B nghĩa là làm A chứ không làm B. Đọc lướt thấy từ survey mà không chú ý rather than rất dễ chọn nhầm TRUE.
