First and foremost, volunteering fosters a genuine sense (53)______ social empathy and civic duty. By witnessing socioeconomic hardships directly, teenagers learn to appreciate their own favorable circumstances and develop compassionate perspectives towards others. In (54)______, collective volunteering endeavors offer young people an invaluable setting to cooperate with peers from diverse backgrounds, (55)______ significantly sharpens their communicative and collaborative capacities.

Empirical evidence shows that students who dedicate a portion of their free time to altruistic endeavors often demonstrate superior academic discipline. This advantageous correlation arises because balancing schoolwork with public service compels adolescents to master the art of time management. Ultimately, the profound sense of purpose (56)______ from serving the community keeps teenagers grounded, guiding them well away (57)______ harmful lifestyle temptations and unconstructive screen obsessions.

Section 3 (Questions 58 – 67)

Read the following passage and choose the best answer A, B, C, or D for questions 58 – 63, and complete the summary for questions 64 – 67. (10.0 points)

Urban centers across the globe are currently undergoing an unprecedented transformation driven by the rapid adoption of smart green technologies. Historically, urban development prioritized industrial expansion and vehicular convenience, often at the expense of ecological balance and public health. Consequently, traditional metropolises have long struggled with suffocating air pollution, escalating greenhouse gas emissions, and inefficient waste disposal systems. However, the emergence of interconnected digital sensors, artificial intelligence (AI), and clean energy infrastructures is now enabling city planners to transition toward sustainable, intelligent eco-cities.

One of the most profound breakthroughs in modern sustainable urbanism lies in automated energy management. In advanced green cities, public buildings and residential complexes are increasingly outfitted with intelligent photovoltaic facades and computerized thermal regulation networks. By analyzing micro-meteorological forecasts and occupant behavior in real time, automated energy grids can distribute electricity dynamically, storing excess solar power during midday hours and deploying it during peak nocturnal demand. This computational optimization reduces fossil-fuel reliance by up to forty percent, making net-zero carbon architecture an achievable reality rather than an idealistic vision.

Furthermore, digital connectivity is radically overhauling municipal transportation. Conventional private car dependency has overwhelmed urban thoroughfares, generating chronic traffic gridlock and perilous carbon monoxide emissions. In response, forward-looking cities have integrated AI-driven traffic signal synchronization with extensive networks of electric public transit and dedicated cycling arteries. Commuters utilize synchronized mobile applications that present multi-modal travel options, encouraging individuals to abandon private combustion-engine vehicles in favor of zero-emission transit alternatives. Recent pilot projects in Nordic capitals demonstrate that such integrated transit networks can curtail inner-city exhaust pollution by more than half within just three years.

Nevertheless, the journey toward fully digitalized ecological urbanism presents formidable socio-economic hurdles. Chief among these concerns is the substantial initial capital investment required to retrofit aged municipal infrastructure with smart sensors and renewable converters. Many developing municipalities simply lack the fiscal leeway to finance such ambitious engineering undertakings. Furthermore, data privacy represents a contentious issue: because smart cities rely on ubiquitous surveillance cameras and environmental tracking devices, civic ethicists caution against the potential misuse of private citizen movement records. Therefore, urban innovators emphasize that digital green technology must remain inclusive, transparent, and people-centered, ensuring that environmental sustainability does not come at the expense of basic civil liberties.

Câu 58. Which of the following best serves as the title for the passage?

A. The Financial Challenges of Modern Civil Engineering

B. The Evolution of AI and Urban Surveillance Technology

C. Smart Green Cities: Technological Transformation and Ethical Hurdles

D. The Impossibility of Achieving Net-Zero Carbon Architecture

Câu 59. According to paragraph 2, automated energy systems optimize power usage primarily by ______

A. mandating electricity blackouts during peak night hours

B. relying entirely on imported clean fuels from rural facilities

C. analyzing weather forecasts and resident habits to distribute energy dynamically

D. replacing all residential buildings with underground living quarters

Câu 60. The word "outfitted" in paragraph 2 is closest in meaning to ______

A. equipped

B. demolished

C. decorated

D. inspected

Câu 61. The word "it" in paragraph 2 refers to ______

A. solar power

B. peak demand

C. micro-meteorological forecast

D. computational optimization

Câu 62. According to paragraph 3, which of the following is NOT mentioned as a feature of modern municipal transportation?

A. AI-driven traffic signal synchronization

B. Complete prohibition of walking within city centers

C. Synchronized mobile apps providing multi-modal routes

D. Dedicated cycling lanes and electric public transit

Câu 63. What can be inferred from the final paragraph?

A. Smart ecological cities cannot be established in any developing countries.

B. Technological advancement must be balanced with privacy rights and financial prudence.

C. Public safety cameras will soon replace all municipal police officers.

D. Citizens are universally opposed to smart environmental surveillance.

Complete the summary below. Choose NO MORE THAN TWO WORDS from the passage for each answer. Write your answers in the spaces provided.

In architecture, automated energy networks adjust power distribution dynamically to achieve (64) ........................................ carbon emissions. Section 2. Essay Writing (15.0 points)

Others argue that teenagers should have complete freedom to spend their free time however they wish, including playing video games and engaging with social media.

Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Write an essay of about 200 words to present your perspective. Use specific reasons and relevant examples to support your argument.

Bài viết mẫu tham khảo (Band điểm xuất sắc):

In recent years, how secondary school pupils should allocate their leisure time has sparked lively debate. While some people advocate that teenagers ought to participate in community service and outdoor activities, others believe that adolescents should have complete autonomy over their recreation, including video gaming and social media. In my view, achieving a harmonious balance between these two approaches is paramount.

On the one hand, dedicating free time to volunteering and sports offers profound physical and social benefits. Engaging in environmental campaigns or visiting charity shelters nurtures empathy, teamwork, and practical problem-solving skills that traditional classrooms cannot fully provide. Simultaneously, open-air physical exercise counteracts the alarming rise of sedentary illnesses, helping adolescents alleviate academic pressure and cultivate resilience.

On the other hand, proponents of recreational freedom argue that adolescents need unstructured personal time to decompress. After rigorous school hours, interacting with digital entertainment or connecting with friends via social networks serves as a valid outlet for stress relief. Moreover, strategic digital games can stimulate cognitive creativity, digital literacy, and strategic thinking when consumed moderately.

In conclusion, although the freedom to pursue digital leisure must be respected, excessive screen exposure poses undeniable health risks. Therefore, educators and parents should guide teenagers toward a balanced lifestyle where constructive community involvement and relaxing personal pastimes complement each other. (208 words)
