When Mai's family moved from a small village in the north to a flat in Ha Noi, her parents made one rule very clear: the family would still have dinner together every evening, whatever happened. She complained that the rule belonged to the countryside, not to the city.

Three years later, Mai sees things differently. The family dinners have become the only time in the day when her parents, her younger brother and she actually talk to one another.
